If I see another High School Musical Toy/whatever I'm Going to...

Scenario 1: 6 year old going to Grocery store

Kid No 1: Oooooh! Mummy mummy! Look here!

Mum: Oh, what angel?

Kid No 1: The lunchbox! Please buy for me!

Mum: No Darling. I've already bought you dozens of lunchboxes already, you don't need another one

Kid No 1: But Mummy, this is not just ANY lunchbox, its the Disney one

Mum: But I just bought you a Tinkerbell lunchbox and Gran got you that Barbie one too!

Kid No 1: But nobody buys Tinkerbell and Barbie anymore, its for babies! Its Hannah Montana and everybody loves Hannah Montana

Scenario 2: 6 year old at school

Kid 2: Mmmmm, look what mum packed, Winnie the Pooh Jelly beans!

Kid 3: Well my mummy bought me two Miley Cyrus stickers

Kid 4: High School Musical is better! I got the whole sticker collection!

Kid 1: Check this out! ( Kid 1 pulls out new lunchbox!), mummy bought it yesterday!

All kids: Oooohhhhhhh, so cool!!! WE WANT ONE!

Kid 2: Well, I got a water bottle, the Tinkerbell one

All Kids: HAHA! Thats for babies! ( annoying giggles!)

Scenario 3: 8 year old at birthday party

BG : What did you buy for me Cathy?

Cathy : Its a suprise..

BG: Please tell me!

Cathy: Ok, I will give you a clue. Its a Hannah Montana something

BG: Uhm...okay, a puzzle

Cathy: Nope

BG: A skipping rope? Book? Pencils? Stickers?

Cathy: No, no, no!

BG : A pillow? DVD? T-shirt?

Cathy: NO!!!!!!

BG: PLease tell me!

Cathy: Okay, underwear!

BG: Thats so cool( Opens present!) Look mummy, Cathy got me Hannah Montana underwear!

Kids: Oooohhh! Ahhhhh!

I know those above scenarios were kind of lame, my little sister even found them lame, even though I found it kinda funny. But I think I kind of put my message across, you know what I'm saying? How it seems like the biggest trend nowadays for little kiddos is a Disney icon item whether it may be a pillow, blanket or pencil. Whatever! The list could go on...

Everywhere I go, it feels like every second child is wearing some popular tween icon's merchandise eg t-shirt ie: Hannah Montana aka Miley Stewart, or Gabriella Montez or The Jonas Brothers! Or at least on of the items in their room is associated with one of those movies. Like one time, while looking around at Sandton Mall, I came across a duvet/comforter sheet. Nick, Joe and Kevin's faces were smiling radiantly on the pillow, duvet etc. It was quite scary. I guess if you really wanna get up close and personal with the band, you would buy their pillows. :)

But what I find funny is that the shows and movies like Hannah Montana and Camp Rock are centered around teenagers lives, but the main consumers of these merchandises are kids. Its not only the merchandise that is being consumed by them, it is also the movies. I mean teens watch the movies and all, but I have seen a few kids get more into these movies than a 15 year old would. But arent the actors around that age range?. Little 6 year old are going mad over wearing a t-shirt with Zac Efron on it, but why aren't we teenagers buying all of this? Is it because it is uncool to go gaga over these shows? Is Disney too Babyish?. Would we much rather buy Gossip Girl merchandise and watch Gossip Girls, which is not exactly G-rated material? I mean how can a 6 year old like HSM more than a teenager? Its like me going gaga over Barney more than my little sisters.

But all in all, I find it cute but insanely crazy just like this whole Vampire thing( but that's another story!). Just like all trends, they die down. Soon you wont see every kid having a HSM t-shirt. Or Pillow!

Peace and Love

Reality Shows or Just acting all over again?

Sometimes I really do wonder about reality shows. Over the years they have gained massive popularity. I mean I admit to being an absolute reality show freak from American Idols to Kimora's reality show. But sometimes I do wonder: Are they real? Take Kimora's Life in The Fab Lane. How come when there is a big crisis on the show it is all of a sudden fixed with a snap of a finger just like that? Life really isn't that perfect...

These are the things I wonder about reality shows:

Do they use scripts and plan every move they make?

Why do they wear make-up? I mean In real life when you just relaxing at home you not gonna walk around in 5inch heels around your house?

Are the bad singers on Idols paid to act stupid? Cause really some of the acts are ridiculous. I think some of the people who audition know they are bad but they just audition for their 30 seconds of fame?

Is Simon Cowell really that mean? Or is it all a big act? He looks like the no nonsense type but maybe inside he is very kind but hey I guess Americans love him the way he is. I am sure the AM ratings would drop significally if he turned into a sweet angel.

Do celebs on these shows really that dumb or are they just acting...like is this tuna or chicken?..(cough cough no names mentioned)

Is it really that fun having a camera follow you around 24/7?

If I see another Vampire book I am gonna SCREAM!

We all freaked out and went gaga for Edward in Twilight, right? A good vampire at last! Well some of us did, whilst some us( like me) kept shaking our heads going "What the...?"
As most people know, I don't do mythological creatures. NO fairies, ghosts, witches, goblins and vampires. It's not real. It is just a figment of your imagination really. I truly admire fantasy writers though cause of their imagination and creativity and ability to complete a book about vampires. It is amazing how all of that can come from a person's head. OK, yes I did read Twilight( and the two other books.Oh my freaking word I wanna get the fourth book, Breaking Dawn) but that is as far as it goes.
So after the whole Twilight craze had died down, I had begun to think that Twilight was the only vampire series. Oh Boy was I wrong. The Vampire genre in YA fiction has been there for decades. Do you remember 'Dracula' or 'Buffy and the vampire slayer'? And the genre has been gaining extreme popularity as other Vampire series have been appearing on book shelves( some even WAY before Twilight).
So I am kind off getting over my so-called obsession with Twilight, I noticed how crazy this vampire genre has gone when a few pupils from my school received book vouchers and we all went to the bookstore together.
As I entered the bookstore, I knew EXACTLY what I wanted. Something funny and light hearted to read( no mythological creatures). In fact, I knew I wanted a Meg Cabot book. When people asked me which author/book I wanted they were like "Uhm ok".
So while I was with my girlfriends, who were browsing at some books I left to go out on my own. Once everyone had chosen their books, we all met at the till to pay for our books.
I carefully observed what everybody had bought. The guys had gotten general interest books, you know Non fiction kinds stuff.
But the girls. OMG! I was amazed at how many of the girls got the SAME book! Yes,and they were all VAMPIRE series. One girl bought two books, from the House of Night series. WITH VAMPIRES. They were all the same author. I wanted to laugh cause almost all the girls had some vampire/romance novel. So there I was with my happy, cheerful Meg Cabot novel.
So all in all, I have observed that girls have this crazy thing for vampires. They just cant resist picking up some romance/vampire book. You have no idea how many times I see girls at my school reading some book about vampires or these days zombies. scary.

OMG! Miley Cyrus Deleted her Twitter account

I have not written here in ages. Maybe because I realize my thoughts and insights are not being read by the viewers I intended to be read by. Anyway I will continue to write down my thoughts though.

Lately the popularity of social networking sites has played a role in the way we humans communicate. I mean we all have heard about Facebook (unless you live under a rock), there’s MySpace, Bebo and the list goes on but one that has become extremely popular is Twitter. I am sure you have heard about Twitter before. Well I first heard about when Disney singing sensation started using it and when she STOPPED using it. People like made such a huge big deal about it. I think she has made the social networking sites extremely popular, by tweeting on her mobile phone every 5 minutes. The great thing about Twitter is that you can follow a person’s tweets and it’s always updated on your profile and you can post what you are doing so that the whole world can know what is on your mind. Like for instance if you are sharpening a pencil your best friend can know about it... It is kind off like Facebook in a way, but Twitter’s main focus and popularity is the tweeting thing. So now that we know what Twitter is. Let’s move on…

So since this whole Tweeting thing has been made (in my opinion) popular by Miley Cyrus using it (among other celebrities: Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres etc). It’s cool because you feel a lot closer to your celebrities than before and friends. I joined Tweeter but found it kind of boring. I mean who cares if you are wondering what would happen if the earth was wiped out by aliens. Really, I do have a life of my own to live too.

In a way I think it kinds of stalker-ish to constantly go on Tweeter to see what Miley or whoever is doing. I mean are so obsessed with a complete stranger that you want to know their every move? So many fans everywhere where so disappointed to hear that she deleted her account. Big WHOOP! Honestly I never thought that she would since if you follow her tweets (ok call me a stalker- I did it sorely for research purposes) she updates every five seconds but well she did.

There is nothing wrong with Tweeter. If you have something meaningful to say like Bible quotes or something, its cool. I mean if you going to do it in a safe manner for example:
DO NOT SAY
‘I am waiting by the Taxi rank, in Brits, the one by the Brits Mall at 9am approximately like I do every single day. And I am wearing my green blazer along with my pink dress since I have to go to school everyday. ”
Firstly that’s way too much info. Way too much detail. Anyway internet freak can go to that same place you wait everyday and stalk you.

RATHER SAY:

‘I am waiting for the taxi.” Then at least in that case nobody will know which subway you are at.

Anyway, try Tweeter and tell me what you think. Hey while you are at add Obama on Tweeter.
Peace and Love
xoxo

My Take on the MTV VMA Drama

So I am sure you have heard about the whole VMA fiasco. When Kanye West stormed on the stage and interrupted Taylor when she was accepting her award for " Best Female Video". He took the mic from her and went on about how Beyonce should have won instead of her . I mean, that was just plain rude. I know he may not be a fan of Taylor or anything and felt strongly that Beyonce should have won, but to publicly humiliate a teenager like that? I mean cmon . He took the mic from her and made it perfectly clear Beyonce should have been the one standing on the stage instead of her! I wonder how Taylor must have felt. He dissed her on national television and ruined her 'big moment'. Beyonce must have wanted to run away and hide behind her purse because of how Kanye was acting like a dumb fool. You should have seen her face.

Of course he was criticized and alot of people are pissed off. Like seriously angry at Kanye. Not only are people like me and the rest of the world annoyed at this act of rudeness, but Obama even commented on the situation. Yes, Obama. You know the president of the United States of America. Barack Hussein Obama. Yeah, he called Kanye a "jackass". I was rolling on the floor laughing because of that. Who knew the former Harvard student and president of the freaking country would even care about the VMAs. I mean really. Hes got a demanding job but at least he has the time to catch up on whats happening in Tinsletown and calling celebrities "jackasses". Classic.

Anyway, back on the Kanye West dissing thing. Now, when I first heard about it through my friend Jess I was like" OMG!" but really didn't care. I've got more pressing issues in my life at the moment. But since its Friday I thought " oh well, what the heck". I read numerous articles about the issue and even watched the videos and I saw for myself. Now I am not going to rant on about how he is a jerk and all. It is not our job as humans to judge but I just find it strange that this is not the first time he has interrupted someone while they were saying their acceptance speech.

In November 2006, during the MTV Europe Awards Kanye West's video " Touch the Sky" failed to win. Kanye was so upset about his losing to Justice and Simian "We Are Your Friends" video that he stormed on stage, while they were saying their acceptance speech and made everyone know that HE should have won the award instead. He apologized for that event. Then a few days before the MTV Video Music Awards this year 2009 he was upset about not being chosen for the opening of the awards. He claimed race had to do with it."Maybe my skin’s not right" was what he said because Britney Spears had been chosen instead of him. Then the whole Taylor Swift thing happened. But how nice was it of Beyonce to let Taylor finish her speech?

So as you can see it is a pattern. It is not the first time this has happened. I do think what he did was wrong but I don't think he is a bad person. In a way it was kind of nice of him to mention his friend, Beyonce was the best but maybe it should have been done privately. After watching him on the 'Jay Leno Show' I began to feel sorry for him. I mean think about it. The guy has been through so much. He lost his mother and fiance. And it seems this losing of his mother has left him heartbroken. He is still hurting inside so in order to make himself feel better he is taking out his hurt and anger on others. And can you see the direction his music has taken. From singing about happy fun things he is now singing about heartbreak, death and nightmares. He is not as succesful as before.Music Is his way of dealing with his grief( just like good old friend Eminem). It is just how bullies are. When they feel alone and have a low self esteem they try make others suffer( just like Eminem). Sometimes it is unintentionally. He looks like he has got it all together with his flashy car and shades and rude behaviour but inside its a different scenario. I am not going to boycott his music like i did with Chris Brown( like some people are doing).

Are ALL Disney Stars Singers?

Are ALL Disney Stars Singers?

I remember the other day my mother was saying that if you want to be on Disney you have to be multi-talented. As in you have to know how to act, sing. The whole package. And I couldn't’t agree more. I mean have you noticed that the Disney stars who you have seen in your favourite sitcoms have all at least tried to get into singing. And some of them are really good and made it big in the music industry (OK maybe not in mainstream but in the Disney world). They either actors turned to singers or vica-versa or both. And I feel like all the shows I used to watch, they all gonna release albums. Its strange. I mean, is it mandatory that if you wanna be part of Disney you HAVE to release an album under Hollywood records? Maybe not. Maybe its just a coincidence. But anyway I have been seeing actors turning into singers all the time on Disney but what inspired me to write this post today was when I paid a visit to the Itunes store and Emily Osment’s single was up for sale. I mean, you know the girl who plays Lily on the hit show Hannah Montana( I am the biggest fan of that show BTW!) apparently she is a singer now? I mean I know she has probably sung for one of these Disney Stars songs or whatever but now it but a singer. She is the last person( and 100th) I would expect to be a singer. I don’t know why though but it seems like now she’s released a single and is working on a debut album( but not under Hollywood Records which is owned by Disney) with most of the songs written by herself. What? She’s a songwriter now. Alright then. Anyway its not just her who is following the whole singer Disney thing. Here are a few others( trust me there I much more!) who you might STILL remember( since some of them didn’t make it that big)

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL PEEPS

1) Soon after success with her major role in Disney’s Suite Life of Zack and Cody as Maddie the candy counter girl, she took on the role as Sharpay Evans in High School Musical. Then guess what? She released her debut album “ Headstrong” which was performed successfully on the Billboard 200 chart by coming #5 and selling 64,000 copies in the first week. Success story I guess and she wasn’t a one night wonder in the music department, she has just released her 2nd album “ Guilty Pleasures” which I haven’t bought but I am loving ‘ Its Alright, Its OK”

2) Another HSM actress, Vanessa Hudgens. I mean I guess its not a big surprise she released an album since she was a star in the movie and all as Gabriella Montez. But anyway she released ‘V” which also was successful topping the charts at # 24 and selling 34,000 copies in the first week. Huh? Zac why didn’t you release an album?

3) Then there is Corbin Bleu who is ANOTHER HSM actor( don’t despair he is the last one from HSM I am mentioning-promise) releasing his debut “ Another Side” which sold 18,000 copies in the first week. My fave song of the album is “ Deal With it” . But the only major star in HSM who didn’t follow the trend was Zac Efron( Troy Bolton. But I think he should stick to acting though cause I Love his movies.)
Have you noticed that almost ALL these stars are from the same movie?

HANNAH MONTANA
Okay we ALL know Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana is a singer duh!. I mean anybody who doesent know anything about Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus etc must be living under a rock. My dad who is probably reading this is one of them( no offense dad). I mean my aunt even watches Hannah Montana( sometimes). I remember one time I was watching an episode of Hannah Montana and she told me it a re-run because she had watched the night before J . Miley Cyrus is the star of my favourite shows in this planet earth so it ain't nothing new since the character Hannah Montana is a pop teen singing sensation. The Hannah Montana soundtracks have had huge success in the U.S but it cant really count as her going solo since it’s a soundtrack but she has released ‘Breakout” which has nothing to do with Hannah Montana. It’s a good album too. I like it since I am not a fan of her Hannah Montana songs but I enjoyed the album oh and it was # 1 on Billboard selling who- knows- how many copies

Mitchell Musso- aka Oliver or Smokin Oakin( inside joke). My favourite character.in fact I love all the Hannah Montana characters especially his long hair. No seriously, this guy has LONG hair. Not really your typical Disney star but oh well. I never though HE would be a singer. Maybe its because his brother is one of the lead vocals in the band Metro Station along with Trace Cyrus( Miley’s bro)

Another HM star is Emily Osment. I remember the first time I saw her she was this little girl in blond pigtails in Spy Kids( which was then my favourite movie-I think I was 9!) now she plays Lily on HM. And she is working on an album.

Barney People( Ok I know Barney and Friends isn't Disney but where else could I fit them?)

1) Demi Lovato- Although I have never watched Camp Rock( I know some of yall must be like “ OMG, How could you?”) or seen her act for that matter( wait-except for the Barney and Friends DVDS I own but she was little back then. -no kidding) she released a really good album ‘ Don’t Forget”. I loved the album from start to finish. And her songs on THAT album were kiddy like but fun. I think ‘ La LA Land is the ONLY song my sister listens to that is not classical musical or Beethoven or Lady GAGA.

Selina Gomez- Okay I also don’t watch her a lot but she’s cute and funny in the Disney program “ Wizards of Waverly Place” and Barney And Friends of course. She was favourite character in Barney and Friends when I was younger. She played Gianna. So cute. Anyway she’s releasing an album too. Selina Gomez and The Scene is the group she is part of.

Those are just to name a few

More annoyingly-can't-get-outta-your-head-songs

Here are some other songs I wish they would stop playing on the radio or MTV

1) I Gotta Feeling- Black Eyed Peas
Oh my goodness! Do you know how many times they play this song. It is so annoying and EVERYBODY seems to love. When it first came out I liked wow but now...argh! Its like
Chorus:
I gotta feeling
That tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be be good night
A feeling( wooo wooo)

2) Another song by the Black eyed peas which is sooo last month is Boom Boom Pow..you know that song.." she's so 2008, I'm so 3008" and like the most of the song is going " Boom boom boom". Argh!.

3) Jonas Brother's SOS- this song makes me wanna scream.

4) " You can stand under my umbrella Ella eh eh eh
My 8 year old sister's favourite song. And she loves singing it thats why I hide my Rihanna CD from her.

5) Poker Face- another favourite of my sister. She and 3rd grade friends like love Lady Gaga( even though the music is not exactly targeted to little kids) " Pa pa poker face pa pa poker face"

More to come..

Don't Mess With Eminen

It is so strange when singers diss each other. I mean they will write a song about another artist dissing them and all ( in case you don't know to diss is to put (someone) down, or show disrespect by the use of insulting language or dismissive behavior- wiki dictionary). So today I was sick and couldn't do anything fun outdoors like playing soccer with my sister or running so I went to YouTube to check out Mariah Carey's new song " Obsessed".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYFoIVhmLnM

Telling by the title and lyrics the song tells a story of a someone who so obsessed with Mariah that they are claiming that they got together, while Mariah denies it. Listen to the song and you will know what I mean. And guess who this song was written about? Eminem aka Slim Shady. Now this song obviously pissed the guy off along with the fact that Mariah denies ever hooking up with him. So he is angry and recorded the song "Warning"

Why the anger? He is one of the best-selling rappers out there, and finds joy in dissing the people in his life. From his mom( Cleaning out of my closet) and Mariah ( Warning and others), He is a very VERY pissed off guy. Well at least he expresses his anger in a sorta healthier way instead of committing murder though. But My problem is his lyrics are so violent, way too honest in my opinion as in he even writes about wanting to kill his mom etc. Really disturbed guy but hey. Heard his newest song " we made you", where he disses every celeb there is and I feel like this guy has nothing better to say than trash other people. In my opinion lack of creativity. Actually his lack of immatuaraty is not funny at all.

So anyway, in response to all the disses from him, Mariah released Obsessed. Well done! Its not a bad song and at least she dissed him in a more sophisticated manner instead of throwing the F-word around like its the only word in the dictionary.

If I were Mariah( or Sarah Palin), I would so sue( Nah, just kidding). Its Hollywood( or life in general) you have to have tough skin but he acts like a school bully. But its America- Freedom Of Speech right?

So lesson to every celebrity there DON'T MESS WITH Eminem or your name will be mentioned in one of his hate songs.

Peace and Love

C@n U Tawk Lyk Dis

Can you talk like this ( proper English)

That's "text-talk" that is being used alot nowadays. Well mostly cause its easier and quicker. Sometimes it can get annoying how people will deliberately misspell a word like spelling "talk" like "tawk". Ha ha! It can be so funny though. Like last weekend I was talking to old classmate of mine from theb 8th grade and she took text talk( or deliberately misspelling words) to the extreme. Like she misspells words deliberately throughout the whole 2 minute conversation. So here's an example of the conversation:

Me: Hey
Kelly: Heyz u, hwz uz doin?
Me: Okay nd u? ( notice how I also use shortcuts)
Kelly: Okwayz..y u only okwayz?

Notice he spells "okay" like Okwayz? ya, its quite funny. You know how on facebook you have got those status updates where its kinda like Twitter, where you post what you doing etc. Well "Kelly" is always talking like that. Like notice here
Proper english: All this school work is alot! But I am okay still. Hanging with my girls
Ben english: Al dis skul work iz alat. Bt Me is okwayz stil. Hangin wit ma gurlz

Its quite funny when I read through my text messages. Heres another example of a message I received from my friend:

" Hey Fwendie..., howz u doin gurl...c ya at skul...mwaz..luvs ya..xoxo"

Seriously, this is no joke:)

Annoying-Can't-Get-Out-Your-Head-Songs ( and dances)

So has there ever been that song that you really try sooo hard not too like? I mean, not that you like the song or whatever but the chorus is so catchy that you can't get it out your head? The song may make no sense and may be kinda stupid but you find yourself humming to yourself or singing in the shower to it. Well here's a short list of songs which I don't like but cant get out of my head. Trust me I could go on all night and I will continue my list...this is just a few.

Beyonce Knowles Ego- Ag! I don't know what it is about Beyonce's songs that make her songs hard to get out of my head. She may ( sometimes) have the craziest lyrics and the most annoying videos( especially the ones when she is dancing silly with around Jay Z) but her songs are so darn catchy! Her latest single " Ego" is one of the songs. I saw the video one weekend when I was just flipping through music channels and since then that is what they play. Some of my friends are going crazy all over this song.. Her choruses are so annoying yet we all seem to know the words to all of them. I guess that's what makes s good song. A chorus which is so hard to forget. I do not like this song though ( I've just played it 100 times on my phone and know the lyrics)

" It's on baby lets get lost
You don't need to call in to work cause you the boss" or the chorus( Ag!)

It's too big, it's too wide
It's too strong, it won't fit
It's too much, it's too tough
He talk like this 'cause he can back it up

I got a big ego, such a huge ego
But he love my big ego,
it's too much walk like this 'cause I can back it up

Anyway the video should be watched along with her other vids and you will see what I mean. Just go on youtube and look up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iMtyJwPfRo

Anyway to prove my point that her songs are the " annoyingly-can't get-out-of-your-head" songs.Remember " Single Ladies"? The crazy black and white video with 3 ladies dancing singing " if you liked then you should have put a ring on it" Another song I admit I have played tons of times and dance to it every now and then. Not only are the lyrics catchy but so is the dance. I loved the funny hand movements she makes in the dance. You probably not have a clue what I am talking about until you have watched the vid. My friends and I have tried to imitate her dance moves before...

Do you remember Avril Lavignes single " Girlfriend" Remember the:
Hey, hey, you, you, I don't like your girlfriend
No way, no way, I think you need a new one
Hey, hey, you, you, I could be your girlfriend
Or heres my favourite part:She's like so whatever
You could do so much better
I think we should get together now
And that's what everybodys talking about

( I sense jealousy in that song( case of the green-eyed monster...what do you think)

A whole month doing...nothing!

So its Holidays now and what have I been up to?

Well working on my writing as I just LOVE to write. From short stories to blogging( even though I have not been doing a good job at that). I even enjoy the occasional history essays that we are given. I love to put down things on paper, and most people ssay I write too much. well, its simply cause I have got alot to say. My number one pet peeve about the English Creative writing essays we get is that the maximum, word limit is extremely ridiculous! 350 words! Sometimes I feel like going to my English teacher and saying " You expect me to write a good story in 350 words" It drives me insane and its incredibly frustrating trying to minimize my already 1000 word essay to 35o words. It makes me wanna go aggh!

Anyway besides the writing part one of my new years resolutions which I am trying to keep but have been unsuccesful till now. Keeping fit and not being a couch potato for the whole month that I am home. I've been running for 2o minutes, YAY me!

Then finally doing the usual. Check mail, catch up on the latest news( cough cough gossip) and music. I forgot to mention reading. I am reading Eclipse. The 3rd installment in the Twilght Saga. Its taking me abit longer to read. But we will see

I am sure you have no clue what I am talking about but I will post summaries of the books as I read them and you will understand by what I mean as "freaky"

Peace and love

Why You Must NEVER Let another chick do your makeup

"Ten years from now, this will be hilarious"

That is what I find myself saying over and over again, just to console myself or others. I know its cliche.I am sure everyone has had those days when something extremely embarrassing happens and you just want to runaway and hide. Like as you are accepting an award at school, your heal breaks and thud! on the floor. Or you are out with your mates and you sitting across the table from your crush and you choke. I certainly have had those times. Not just embarrassing things but really silly mistakes...

It was the Valentines Dance coming and all the excitement of a dance like shopping for clothes, doing hair, make-up. All those girly fun stuff. I had prepared everything the weekend before. I bought a red top, pink top and belt and really cute purse. F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S. I was bound to look stunning. So at school I had worn my new red shirt, with 3/4 pants and purse. I had received so many compliments and I didnt even wear any make-up.I dont usually wear make-up except for lipgloss. As Lil Mama says" my lipgloss is poppin". Straight after school, me and my friend spent the afternoon at her house to get ready and all. From picking our outfits to doing eachothers nails. She offered to be my stylist for the day.It was fun as she painted my nails hot pink and black. Then now makeup time. As i mentioned before, I am not big on make-up but tonight i wanted to do something "daring". She applied the make-up, including the foundation. I was too busy feeling "glamorous" to actually notice what was wrong with my face. Too busy to notice what was wrong with the foundation...it was made for a skin tone way lighter than mine. After getting all glammed up, we took a few photos and got to the dance. We both had fun, dancing and all that. As the dance was coming to an end I took a photo of myself with another girl and I. After taking the picture, I looked at the photo. I could not believe it! I looked like a ghost.

All pale. I was so upset, I ran to the bathroom and looked carefully. My face was pale and it was all because of the foundation being way too light. MY friends foundation was very light since she had light skin and my skin was dark. It looked like someone had put baby powder all over my face...A few days after the dance I heard somebody say" remember that day when you tried to wear make-up'So that is why i do my own make-up. This is of course not one of the embarassing things I still laugh about. It is quite funny though. I guess

From anti-Twilight to Pro-Twilight

Its funny how when everyone was going crazy over Twilight, I just didn't care. I first saw the trailer for the Twilight Movie, and i though " mm..looks freaky". And that was it. I never watched it, though the whole school was going gaga over the books, Robert Patterson( aka Edward Cullen). I mean seriously, it was silly to me. VAMPIRES?!?! Girl who falls in love with a vampire...you gotta be kidding. Even the "anti-reading" guys were reading it.

I am not really into fantasy books. I've only read like the first Harry Potter book by J.K Rowling. That's it. I didn't even finish. It just drove me crazy. I even tried reading Eragon. A book about this boy who finds a dragon egg. The dragon grows so big, he has to move out of town. As I was nearly halfway, I put it down. So the whole Twilight saga. As I mentioned first the books came out. Every second student would be holding a file, some textbooks and in their other hand..Twilight. Then the movie came out. I didn't budge. Then the soundtrack. I didn't bother either.

Now a couple months later, my cousin came over. She had a DVD that she said we could watch together. So I was sure. Then she told me it was Twilight and how she has read all the books. I was seriously, you gotta be kidding. We stayed up that night watching Twilight. And guess what the verdict was: I really liked it. Long after the hype has died down( well not all the hype), I like it now. Have you ever been in a situation where something is so popular, yet you the only one who doesnt like it. Well that is what happend. I am not going to say I LOVED it. I am not the # 1 fan. But the movie was different to what I usually watched. I like comedy. But this movie had vampires..VEGETARIAN ONES( well techinally not, but i still like to refer to them as that). It was so serious and had action. I grabbed the first book and stayed up late reading. I am almost done, then this holiday guess what I am going to do. Read Midnight Sun, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.

So the morale of the story is it is good to give things a try. You know, like open you mind. Broaden your horizons. Try something new, cause you never know. You might just like it.

Peace and LOve

Red Carpet in schools

Brand Matters

Have you noticed on the Red Carpet, take for instance a prestigious event like the Oscars or The Grammy’s or some big celebrity event there’s a host from some famous television show who interviews the stars as they strut the red carpet. While interviewing them he/she will ask; “Wow, love the dress, who designed for you”
Then comes the obvious answer “Dolce Gabana, or in South Africa its either Stone Cherry or David Kau. Never will you hear a celeb say “I bought this dress at a flea market or from Mr. Price” No it always has to be either custom-made just for the celebrity or expensive.

It is so funny how expensive these outfits are and how ugly they are. I mean, I could buy a dress from a discount store that still would not get me on the Worst Dressed List. Then there is the fact that if you do not spend thousands on a dress, there is something wrong with you. The pricier items you have, the better? Hopefully in these tough economic times, budget shoppers like myself will start a new trend. People never pay attention to wise spenders or the beautiful dresses that are not strut on the runway, no they pay attention to the ones who flaunt their clothes, no matter how ugly they are. It is so wrong that the most popular celebs all buy from big name brands.

The Celebrity trend of this Brand matters thing has made a big influence on everybody. Including teenagers. You see I go to a private school, where we wear school uniforms on a daily basis. Therefore, you would think that because we wear uniforms, we all look the same and there is no “ best dressed” competition in terms of fashion since we are all restricted to look the same. WRONG! Items ranging from cellphones, school bags, IPods’, Makeup (girls) and…Cars. Yes, Cars. If your daddy owns the latest Audi or wait Ferrari, you just scored your ticket to being the most popular guy/girl in school. Congratulations. I guess that’s what makes high school fun. We seem to always be competing for best dressed just like on the Red Carpet.

I am not saying it is wrong to like big fashion labels, its just some people are so obsessed with it that they get depressed over it or max out credit cards just to impress their friends. Some people feel worthless. There was a time when I used to want so bad to be the best dressed at my school to impress everybody. I guess, I still do take a little bit of time trying to look my best, but it is all for one very special person…me.
